From within the various fields of the financial markets business, our main areas of focus are commodity trading, private equity principal investment, FX hedging services and alternative investment placement business mainly within the United Kingdom and EU countries. Commodity tradings are carried out in three subsidiary companies, namely Mitsui & Co Energy Risk Management Ltd. which provides fuel price hedging to airline and power companies, Mitsui Bussan Commodities for LME brokerage services and Mitsui & Co. Precious Metals Inc.for precious metals trading.

The department has been expanding its activities to include private equity principal investment which also functions as a business promoter on an inter-divisional basis within our regions, through offering financial know-how and expertise to other business divisions. We also provide FX hedging services to the other business divisions linked to the real time daily FX market.

Our new and challenging area of business is alternative investment fund placement which involves placing funds between Europe and Japan as an intermediary. We seek to innovate existing financial services to meet customer demands and future trends.
