Business Units:Transportation Logistics

Transportation Logistics Business Division divides its business into four major portfolios: Global Network, Logistics Solutions, Insurance & Risk Management and Integrated Logistics & Financial Services. We are developing business in these domains, while combining functions unique to each new business and establishing new markets.

Global Network
Under the "Trinet" brand, Mitsui has created a 5-polar global logistics network, one of which is Tri-Net Logistics (Europe) GmbH, whose head office is located in Dusseldorf, to satisfy the diverse array of logistics related needs of our customers around the world. We are also striving to reinforce our networks in emerging countries, whilst offering various intra-regional logistics services at every operating base as a means of providing comprehensive logistics services to customers.
We have strengthened freight forwarding operations through our collaboration with BALtrans Group, which recently became a Mitsui Group affiliate. Beside our integrated international transportation services, we have a tramper carrier operation business as well as air cargo operations.

Logistics Solutions
Our ability to manage logistics improvement projects is backed by a strong track record within the field. We are also specialists in providing high-value-added services such as small-lot, mixed freight distribution, temperature-controlled distribution and cross-docking facility management. Our objective is to use these skills to help our customers resolve a diverse array of logistics-derived operational issues.

Insurance & Risk Management
Integrated Logistics & Financial Services
We draw on knowledge gained through experience to reevaluate balance sheet assets and apply financial techniques to the liabilities and equity side of the balance sheet. Building on this foundation, we are redoubling our efforts to provide sophisticated, highly specialized logistics-related services and expand our insurance and risk management businesses. Our efforts are also focused on establishing new business models by organically combining IT and FT with logistics technology (LT) in step with the needs of customers and markets.

In Russia
Taking advantage of special connections with Russia in terms of customs systems and credit supply, we maintain a warehousing base in the Finnish port of Hamina/Kotka. Following the potential usage of the Siberian Land Bridge trade corridor, Mitsui has taken an equity interest in Toyo Trans which has strong expertise in Russian logistics operations as well as establishing an inventory base in Moscow.

In Dubai
In Dubai, the commercial heart of the Arabic Gulf where the world’s first fully integrated logistics platform is based, Mitsui has taken a stake in a warehouse and forwarding facility with a free zone environment. Our efforts are focused on offering every transport mode, logistics need and value adding operation in the supply chain to a wide range of customers.
